JADE CUSHION (Evolve)

FABRIC – Polyester satin in Jade,

Jade Lace & Purple ribbon ˝” wide.

TECHNIQUES (FROM THE MIDDLE OUTWARDS)

1. FRILL EDGE. The frill was edged with a rolled hem in embroidery thread, graphite in colour. Because the fabric formed lots of pokies, I had the Stitch Length at 2.5 and Stitch Width at 4.

2. CENTRE GATHERING was triple cover stitch, Differential Feed at 2, Stitch Length 4.

3. PINTUCKS using the Pintuck foot. Chain Looper tension reduced to pull the sides in for a crisper pintuck. No cord insert.

4. TRIPLE COVER STITCH. Again, just using embroidery thread in the Chain Looper.

5. RIBBON ATTACHED WITH FLATLOCK. I used 2 thread flatlock, having pressed the fabric first for a crisp edge. I then pinned the ribbon in place and used the Lace Applicator Foot to place the stitches accurately.

6. LACE FRILL. This was gathered using Narrow Coverstitch and the Differential Feed 2, Stitch Length 4. It was then attached to the cushion with a sewing machine.

PURPLE CUSHION (Embellisher & Imagine)

FABRIC – Centre Panel – Jade Polyester Satin under purple Georgette.

2” ribbon in Navy, 1” ribbon in Purple. Purple velour. White 3 ply knitting courtelle. White chunky fluffy knitting yarn. Multi coloured fluffy yarn (I think it’s called Jazz)

TECHNIQUES (FROM THE MIDDLE OUTWARDS)

1. CENTRE PANEL. The Georgette was laid over the Polyester Satin, and twists of white fluffy yarn was Embellished through both layers. I then took twisted lengths of white fluffy and Jazz, laid the down either side and Embellished them into place.

2. NAVY BLUE RIBBON, 4 thread overlock seam.

3. FLATLOCK SEAM (2 THREAD) ONTO PURPLE RIBBON. I used the 3 ply yarn in the lower looper, standard thread in the Left Needle and the Lace Applicator foot to place the seam correctly.

4. VELOUR FABRIC, 4 thread overlock seam.

5. FRILL. This was edged with rolled hem. The Jazz yarn was inserted into the hem with the beading foot. I then gathered the frill with 4 thread overlock, pinned it into place and seamed with 4 thread overlock.
